Highlands2hammocks is run by husband-and-wife team Campbell and Gemma Kerr, best known for their Youtube adventures in their motorhome Ellie the Elddis. Living in their motorhome fulltime, they spent the last few years creating Destination Earth Guides, a growing collection of in-depth road trip guidebooks. Built from years of vanlife, slow travel and first-hand exploration, the guides are designed primarily for people who already own campervans or motorhomes and want to travel Scotland better – with well-planned routes, realistic driving days, wild camping guidance, and genuinely useful local insight.
What started as documenting their own adventures has grown into one of the UK’s most trusted independent resources for road trips. The books focus on practical, experience-led travel rather than glossy bucket lists – helping readers avoid common mistakes, discover quieter locations, and make the most of limited time on the road.
Alongside the guidebooks, Campbell and Gemma also run Scotland Escape, a small campervan rental business based near Glasgow Airport. This side of the business exists mainly to support travellers flying into Scotland or those without their own van, offering a simple, personal alternative to larger rental companies. Together, the guides, rentals, and their wider content platform Highlands2Hammocks form a trusted ecosystem for anyone planning a campervan adventure in Scotland.
